2003 Artists in residence Anna Lewis & Chris Follows have created a new space for Golborne W10 to highlight and document its unique identity. Anna and Chris have been working on www.golborne.org for the past year. They started from nothing and had no prior knowledge of Golborne. "We were invited by North Kensington Arts to propose a piece of art for Golborne and the Grand Union Canal. The idea for a web-site came from our wish to create a platform that could showcase all the special parts of the community to a wider audience. We wanted to introduce an alternative, permanent piece of art, owned exclusively by the community, to provide Golborne with a creative space to be used, changed and expanded by interested members of the community. As artists we wanted to make an artwork that could be added to and continued with no imposed agendas. www.golborne.org 2003 is our experience of Golborne - as outsiders. The web-site is a visual record of our time discovering the area and meeting the people of Golborne. We see the website as a beginning with the potential to be continued by those wishing to add their own perspectives of Golborne to the website in 2004, 2005, 2006 etc. We have designed a template, which is functional, user-friendly and easy to adapt. On completing our residency we would like to encourage all those interested in extending www.golborne.org to make their own mark, be creative, have fun and reflect the diversity of the Golborne area in the www.golborne.org website." Please contact info@golborne.org We have no funds at present to continue this project, but we would like to seek further funding, so that www.golborne.org can continue. |
